About the Artist
A finalist in the 2023 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, Amber Walls made her first major festival appearance less than a year after she started playing local gigs. Taking the stage at Boots and Hearts was a defining moment for the country singer and songwriter from Blackville, New Brunswick, bringing her music from small town venues to one of Canada’s biggest country music festivals. Amber taught herself to play guitar during lockdown and began performing at smaller local gigs in late 2022. Those early shows gave her the chance to build confidence, try out songs and discover where she wanted to take her music. By the following summer, she was sharing her music with a much larger audience, an opportunity that became an important milestone in her young career. Rooted in ’90s country, Amber’s sound combines traditional country storytelling with a modern touch. Inspired by Ashley McBryde and Ella Langley, she gravitates toward honest songs about heartache, love, loss and faith. Her small town upbringing shapes her perspective, and she writes with the hope that listeners will hear something familiar in the stories she tells. In 2023, she released her debut single, “Should Have Listened to Mama,” with funding support from Music New Brunswick. The song reached the top ten on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, helping introduce her music to listeners beyond her home province. Her single “Lonesome,” recorded with producer Jason Barry at Barrytone Studios, reached number one on KB Country and number five on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown. The recording was another step in finding her sound as an artist, bringing together the country influences she grew up loving and her own approach to songwriting. With “I Hope God Plays Fetch,” Amber shared a more personal side of her music. The song explores grief, faith and the hope that loved ones are still watching over us. Its subject matter reflects her interest in writing songs that can help people feel connected, especially when words are hard to find. Amber has continued performing across the Maritimes and Ontario. She has played the North of Nowhere festival in Ontario, appeared at the Diamonds in the Rough showcase during CCMA Week in 2024, 2025 and 2025. Walls has opened for acts like Gord Bamford and Brett Kissel. In 2026, Amber was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year with Music New Brunswick. From teaching herself guitar at home to earning a finalist spot at Boots and Hearts, she has built her career through steady work and a love of country music. Wherever she plays next, her roots in Blackville remain at the heart of her songs.
